The Amsoil Signature Series Fuel efficient ATF is good stuff and they do rate it as recommended for Mercon LV applications. I would say it's a superior fluid to the Mercon LV with a better viscosity index and pour point. Amsoil low viscosity ATF is a full synthetic and I believe will provide superior protection to the Mercon. Redline D6 ATF is another synthetic which on paper would appear to be the best choice for eliminating the cold weather shift flairs that the 5r110 is prone to.
